RESIST

The Freedom Project is so excited to be launching  Resist Porn as a key part of its mission to end slavery. One life at a time.

Resist Porn is a ministry that aims to reduce the negative impact of porn on our society. Wave after wave of worldwide studies say the same thing: the problem is colossal. We are at Ground Zero, and younger generations in particular are being saturated in pornography and porn culture to an extent that is unparalleled in history. The problem is urgent, and we all must own the solution.

This is such an important project, as so many men and women are crippled by addiction to and  slavery through pornography. Often, the root cause of many human trafficking and sexual abuse cases is addiction or the production of pornography. If we can tackle this critical issue at the grass-roots level, we can go a long way in ending slavery. One life at a time.

Our dream is to provide specifically designed package of tools and resources, training, and help for individuals, couples, church leaders, parents, and schools all over Australia. Tackling an epidemic head-on  is rampant but rarely talked about in our society.

As church leaders, we have a responsibility to help those we care for live a life “worthy of the Lord and please him in every way” (Col 1:10).

Sadly, in our broken world, there are many pressures and temptations facing those in our congregations, including the temptation to view pornography. All the statistics tell us that within our congregations, there will be many people experiencing an addiction to pornography. This can lead to a deep sense of guilt and shame, knowing that, as Christians, this is not how God wants us to live, but at the same time struggling to break free.

To be a be a parent is to love, protect, educate, and guide our children towards functional and mature adulthood. Parenting is particularly challenging in the spheres of sexuality and pornography, where the biblical position is often countercultural and society is saturated with internet access. Internet pornography is highly prevalent, available, and contains violent content and dysfunctional messages about sexuality and relationships. Our section on the harms of pornography is particularly confronting, but we urge parents to be familiar with the research on how it affects people, including children.

Fixing a porn problem is nearly impossible to do on your own, as there’s probably a lot more going on than just a bad habit. It’s common for people who’ve been trying for a long time to stop, only to find the unwanted behaviour keeps repeating. Can you have long-lasting change? Can you really find release from the slavery of ‘pornography addiction’?

Schools:

The key question isn’t if Christian schools should talk about pornography, but how they should talk about pornography.

In the past, some Christians considered pornography a taboo topic, especially with children. However, with broadband internet and mobile devices, pornography is so widespread that it’s essential for Christian schools to face the issue. Young people need the resources to make informed and wise choices about how they respond to pornography.
