A bequest is a charitable gift from your estate and a wonderful way of giving, enabling you to have your financial wishes fulfilled and benefit the work of The Freedom Project in the process.

Remembering The Freedom Project in your Will is a simple and fantastic way to make lasting change in the world even after you are gone. Large or small, your bequest will make an important contribution to our long-term strength and ability to carry on as we fight to end modern day slavery.

Ways to outline a charitable gift in your will

There are several ways that you can define the amount of your charitable gift to The Freedom Project. They are:

  • A gift of a pre-determined amount of money, also known as a ‘pecuniary’.
    For example, you give $20,000.

  • A gift that will be made only if certain conditions are met.
For example, you give $20,000 provided we still offer a particular anti-trafficking program or service you are especially passionate about, or your spouse does not survive you.

  • A gift that will be made from the remainder of your estate once all other bequests, debts, and taxes have been paid. This approach - often referred to as a "residuary" - assures that a gift will be given after specific gifts have been disbursed.
For example, you give 30% of the remainder of your estate after dividing your spouse’s and children’s inheritance.
