Sareeta (pseudonym) was orphaned at five years old. She had lost her entire family due to sickness. She was later adopted by a family who were abusive, putting her through immense physical and emotional trauma. Sareeta eventually ran away from home.

When she was found by the police, she was put in a government home for children. For several years, Sareeta was shuffled between various homes.

At about the age of fifteen, Sareeta met a man who promised her a job in Bangalore, India. However, when she came to the city, things quickly took a turn for the worse.

The man that she had trusted pushed her into the sex industry. She was forced to work in a dance bar, where she ‘catered’ to the male customers.

Before she knew it, Sareeta had been trafficked into India’s notorious sex industry, trapped and desperate for freedom.

Eventually she was rescued by the police in partnership with a local NGO. She was then transferred to our safe house when she still resides today.

Today, Sareeta is still struggling with coming to terms with the abusive she endured over the years. Her mental health is fragile and recovery is slow. But she is on the journey to freedom…

Her holistic wellbeing is our number one priority as we seek to provide opportunities for healing and restoration. Sareeta is extremely grateful that she has been rescued and given the opportunity to learn new skills through our Heart of Baking vocational training initiative.

One day she also hopes to study and pursue her dreams of becoming a history and literature teacher.

We love being a part of these women’s stories of freedom - ending slavery one life at a time.

Your support today will help us continue providing restoration to women like Sareeta.
