
The UN estimates that world wide there are approximately 300,000 child soldiers involved in conflicts in about thirty countries including Uganda, Burma, Chad, Democratic Republic of Congo, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen. Many are kidnapped and forced to commit terrible atrocities. Approximately 30% of child soldiers are girls1. Many child slaves are used as sex slaves, human shields, and/or suicide bombers. Many are raped, maimed or killed in conflict2.
